¡Hola! I’m Laura, born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Going through an eating disorder in my early teenage years was the catalyst for my love of nutrition and wellness. After graduating high school, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, to study Holistic Nutrition.

Towards the end of my time there, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. He used that season of my life to show me, tangibly, that He is the One who truly satisfies.

Since then, I’ve prayed that God would allow me to use my skills and passion to help girls in the area of wellness for His glory, as well as share the hope of the Gospel so they can know that their identity and worth are found in Him alone. After graduating from nutrition school, I returned to my homeland. While working at a small clinic, I pursued a certification in Business and started a business with my family. After four years, the Lord called me into full-time ministry. God has placed me in FIGHT Ministries in this season, where we provide hope and healing to underage females victimized by human trafficking.

As the Health Coordinator and Social Worker for the girls at our refuge, my goal is to understand their individual nutrition and physical needs alongside our health collaborators, create a sustainable wellness program for their physical healing, support our kitchen staff in the development of a nutrient-dense menu, and gather data for our girls’ social wellbeing and safety.

This year, I’m also pursuing a certification in Biblical Counseling, which will enable me to walk alongside our girls, not only in transforming their health but also in experiencing genuine life transformation in God through His Word.
