My name is Mariel Vargas Canela. I am 39 years old and the mother of two handsome boys. I married the father of my youngest son, with whom I share every day of my life. I was born in a rural area of a town called Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic. I love camping, baking, and crafting! I have a degree in Education. I work for FIGHT Ministries as a teacher. FIGHT’s mission is to help heal and restore underaged girls who are victim of human trafficking.

My mission at FIGHT is to be a light and a witness of Christ's love in the to the girls at our refuge, providing them with education, hope, and healing through teaching. I strive to sow in their hearts the certainty that they are valuable, loved by God, and have a special purpose in life. With faith, patience, and love, I accompany them in their process of restoration, helping them discover their identity in Christ and walk confidently toward a future filled with hope.

Having prayerful and financial support from other brothers and sisters in Christ is essential because the work at FIGHT is not only a human endeavor, but also a spiritual mission. Girls who have gone through difficult situations like ours, have experienced profound pain and their restoration requires more than education and psychological care; they need inner healing, love, and the hope that only God can give.

The Bible teaches us that the spiritual battle is real, and that prayer has the power to transform lives. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers." As a teacher at FIGHT, my job is not only to teach subjects but to be a guide, a support, and a reflection of Christ's love for these girls. However, to do this effectively, I also need spiritual and financial support. Your prayers strengthen me, giving me encouragement and wisdom to serve better.  

Financial support allows me to continue dedicating myself to this mission, without worrying about personal needs, and to focus on giving the best to the girls. By supporting me, you are supporting FIGHT, because my work directly impacts the lives and future of these girls.

God calls us to be His hands and feet on earth. Not everyone can physically work at a ministry like FIGHT, but we can all do something: pray, give, share the cause. By uniting in this mission, we are reflecting God's heart for the most vulnerable and building a future of hope for these girls.
